See that no one leads you astray. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and they will lead many astray. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are but the beginning of the birth pains. [ Matthew 24:4-8]
We are in the last days, although few churches are talking about the end. That’s a mystery in itself. The Bible told us what to look for in the last days, and the Bible is very specific about the signs of the times. We have been watching the fulfillment of these signs unfold before our eyes, which tells us we are definitely in the last days. This also tells us the rapture is very near, yet the church is silent about the last days and silent about the imminent rapture. That is telling, isn’t it?
Look at the fig tree, and all the trees. As soon as they come out in leaf, you see for yourselves and know that the summer is already near. So also, when you see these things taking place, you know that the kingdom of God is near. [Luke 21:28]
Leading up to Jesus statement in Luke 21:28 is his explanation of what events will occur just before his return. There are several places in the Bible that tell us what events will occur before the rapture. When we pull the verses together, here is what we see:
• False Christs and false prophets arise.
• There will be wars and rumors of wars.
• Nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom.
• There will be increases in famines, pestilences and earthquakes.
• Lawlessness and immorality will rule.
• The love of many will grow cold.
• Christians will depart from the faith giving heed to doctrines of demons.
• Men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, unholy, proud, boasters, blasphemers, unloving, disobedient to parents, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, traitors, headstrong, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God and unthankful.
All of these things have happened already.
Give yourself a moment to let that sink in. I’ll say it again. All of these events have been fulfilled. There is nothing that has not been prophesied as happening before the rapture that has not already happened.
Are you sitting down? Do you realize the implications of this?
We are right there. We are in the last days. We are living just before the rapture. No man knows the day or the hour of the rapture, but we are right there. Granted, the rapture could be years away, but it could also be days away. While no man knows, and I won’t make any predictions on the calendar, I will be surprised if the rapture doesn’t occur soon.
But it really does not matter what I think. What matters is that prophesy has been fulfilled, and according to God’s Word, we are right there close to the end and just before the rapture. That’s what God says in the Bible. And he says we should be preparing for the rapture.
Are you ready? Are you preparing? Get ready spiritually. Pray. Confess, Make sure you are right with God. Live your life every day as though it could be the last day, because one of these days it will be.
