Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. [1 Corinthians 15:51-52]
When Jesus returns at the last trumpet in the rapture to take genuine believers home, it will be the end for us on this earth, and it will be too late for anyone who isn’t saved to suddenly say, “Oh I see Jesus is real and this whole eternal salvation thing must be true, so I’ll accept Jesus now.”
It will be too late.
But time for unbelievers has not ended at the rapture as they must then live and suffer terribly and perhaps die in the seven year tribulation.
We have been living in the age of grace, which started when Jesus died on the cross and will end at the rapture. After the rapture occurs:
• All genuine believers are gone, and
• The Holy Spirit will no longer be restraining evil on the earth.
After the rapture, time on earth enters a new dispensation as we leave the age of grace. While the seven year tribulation may or may not start at the rapture, this new dispensation is the nightmare seven year tribulation that will be so bad, Jesus said:
For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, and never will be. [Matthew 24:21]
Can you imagine how bad it will be? I think not. Jesus, who has lived forever, said that it will be so bad that there has never been a time as bad in all of world history, and that there never will be again. Do you really want to live during such a time? Believe me, your imagination may be creative, but even you cannot imagine how evil will unfold during the tribulation, and you certainly don’t want to be living in it.
Here’s a pressing question for you. Sometimes people are cavalier about their own destiny, but how would you feel about your spouse or your children (or dear friends) living in the tribulation? I don’t want to dwell on that, because the implications create nightmare scenarios for the mind to play out.
The point is, you should be diligently praying constantly for those you love, because the eternal implications are terrifying. If you have a daughter or a son, you undoubtedly love him or her. Surely you could not bear the thought of your child burning in hell and then the Lake of Fire forever in horrendous agony! So what will you do now to make sure that does not happen?
It starts with you and your own walk with God. If your faith is not real, if your daily walk with God is not an example to your children, you are participating in sending them to hell by not living Christ as an example for them.
You are called to pray for your children constantly.
This is serious business. This is why Peter wrote:
The end of all things is at hand; therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers. [1 Peter 4:7]
We have seen many prophetic events unfold over this past year. Many were celestial events that lined up according to prophesy for the first time in thousands of years. The Bible tells us these are signs that end is near.
While many of the signs of the tribulation have not happened and will not occur until the earth is in the tribulation period, all of the prophetic signs that are in the Old and New Testaments pointing to the rapture have all occurred.
Hit the pause button. Did you read that last sentence? Did I just write that? Let’s repeat that sentence. All of the prophetic signs that are in the Old and New Testaments pointing to the rapture have all occurred.
That’s heavy. This means there is nothing left, no additional signs that must appear before Christ returns and takes us home in the rapture. In other words, the rapture could happen any day now. Any day.
Many of the prophetic events that will actually happen during the tribulation are beginning to reveal themselves now. While we will be gone in the rapture before the tribulation, we can look to the horizon now and see some of these tribulation signs beginning to reveal themselves. Since the rapture occurs before the tribulation, in other words, since the rapture is between us and the horizon, that tells us the rapture is close.
For the genuine believer, this is good news. The rapture is an event we look forward to with great anticipation. To be united with our Lord and to be away from this body of sin and this world of evil is our blessed hope.
When the last trumpet sounds, it will be too late. Are you ready today? Are you ready right now?
